Tree Surgery
Call us on 0161 231 3333 or email info@treestation.co.uk. We will arrange a free, no-obligation site visit. Every tree is different, so we need to see the job before we can give you an accurate price. We cannot quote over the phone.
We remove all arisings from your site and process them at our yard. Nothing goes to landfill. Timber becomes firewood, woodchip, planks or other products depending on the species and quality.
Yes. However, we do not cut hedges between April and August (sometimes extending into September) to protect nesting birds. This is a legal requirement under the Wildlife and Countryside Act.
Yes. If your tree is protected by a TPO or is in a conservation area, we handle the council application process for you. We will advise you on what work is likely to be approved and submit the paperwork on your behalf.

Firewood and Logs
Yes. Our firewood is Woodsure Ready to Burn certified, meaning it has been tested and confirmed to contain less than 20% moisture. It lights faster, burns hotter and produces less smoke than unseasoned wood. It is legal to sell in smoke control areas.

Biomass and Woodchip
Woodchip heating typically costs between 2.5p and 3p per kWh. The exact cost depends on your boiler efficiency, fuel specification and delivery arrangements.
Most biomass boilers run best on woodchip between 20% and 35% moisture content. Fresh timber straight from the tree is typically 50-60% MC, so it needs to be dried or seasoned before use. If you need dry fuel (under 35% MC), give us at least six months notice so we can plan drying and stock accordingly.
Yes. The wrong chip size or shape can block your feed system and shut down your boiler. We use specialist chippers calibrated to produce consistent chip dimensions. Tell us your boiler make and model and we will match the fuel specification.
That depends on three things: your daily energy demand, how many days of storage you want between deliveries, and the calorific value of the fuel. We can help you calculate this. Most sites use bulk delivery with gravity unloading into a ground-level or below-ground store.
Yes. Properly dried woodchip produces no harmful byproducts. The flue gas is effectively smoke-free and the ash content is typically 0.5% to 1.5% of the fuel volume.
The CO2 released when you burn wood equals the CO2 the tree absorbed while growing. Processing and transport add a small amount, but the total carbon footprint is far lower than oil, gas or coal. Our BSL registration independently verifies that our fuel saves more than 60% greenhouse gas emissions compared to fossil fuel.
The opposite. Demand for woodfuel makes it financially viable to manage woodlands properly. Without a market for lower-grade timber, woodland owners cannot afford the thinning, coppicing and clearance work that keeps woodlands healthy. The supply chain also supports local jobs -- woodland owners, contractors, processors and suppliers all benefit.
