TreeStation provides a complete tree surgery service for homeowners, businesses, local authorities, and land managers throughout Greater Manchester and the North West. We have been doing this for over a decade, with fully accredited arboriculturists, extensive equipment including crane-equipped vehicles, and the backing of our in-house consultancy team. All work meets BS 3998:2010.
Pruning
Most trees need periodic pruning to stay healthy, safe, and in proportion with their surroundings. We carry out all standard pruning operations:
- Crown reduction -- reducing the overall size of the canopy while keeping a natural shape
- Crown thinning -- selectively removing branches to let in more light without changing the tree's outline
- Crown lifting -- removing lower branches to clear buildings, paths, or sight lines
- Crown cleaning -- taking out dead, dying, or crossing branches
- Pollarding -- managing trees on a regular cycle to control size, common with limes and willows
- Formative pruning -- shaping young trees early to reduce future maintenance costs
- Branch reduction -- shortening individual limbs that overhang property or services
- Hedge cutting -- both formal and informal hedges at any height
- Shaping -- ornamental and topiary work
Felling and Dismantling
When a tree needs to come down, the question is how to do it safely in the space available. In urban settings there is rarely room to fell a tree in one piece, so we dismantle piece by piece using rigging techniques and, where needed, vehicle-mounted cranes. We remove all arisings and leave the site clean.
Planting and Transplanting
We supply and plant trees of all sizes, from bare-root whips and hedging to semi-mature container-grown specimens. If you need advice on species selection for your soil, aspect, and purpose, our consultants can help before a single hole is dug.
Plant Health Care
Trees in gardens and on development sites often suffer from compacted soil, poor drainage, or nutrient deficiency. We use air spade soil decompaction to relieve root zones without digging, and apply mulching and nutrient amendments to give struggling trees the best chance of recovery.
Stump Grinding
After felling, we grind stumps below ground level so the area can be replanted, paved, or built on. Our tracked stump grinder can access tight spaces and soft ground.
Cable Bracing
Some trees with structural weaknesses are worth saving. We install non-invasive flexible cable bracing systems to support weak forks and heavy limbs, reducing the risk of failure without removing the tree.
Emergency Tree Work
Storm damage, fallen trees blocking roads, dangerous branches hanging over buildings -- we provide a rapid-response emergency service with crane-equipped vehicles and experienced climbers.
For emergencies, call Phil directly on 07941 147 206.
Who We Work For
Our tree surgery clients include private homeowners, property management companies, housing associations, local authorities, and the Forestry Commission. Whether it is a single garden tree or a contract covering hundreds of sites, the same standards apply.
Our Team
Tree surgery operations are led by our Arboricultural Manager, supported by our Principal Consultant who ensures survey recommendations translate directly into practical work. This means you deal with one organisation from assessment through to completion.
